Environmental Sustainability We continually seek to operate more efficiently while maintaining our quality standards, considering all our environmental effects. We focus our environmental sustainability for our key issues water, energy, recycling and packaging.

Our employees are the driving force behind improvements to our environmental impacts at our facilities, and our teams are constantly challenging themselves to set the bar higher.  We’re proud of our accomplishments, which include:

  • Reducing water use by 37 percent in the last four years
  • Brewing nearly one  in six of our beers using renewable fuel (biogas, landfill gas and solar)
  • Recycling 99 percent of the solid waste in our breweries
  • Reducing the material in our fiber, aluminum and glass packaging

Additionally, our marketing teams and long-standing partners create programs to educate and engage audiences about various environmental topics, which raise awareness and provide opportunities for our people to take action through volunteerism.

For example, as part of our annual celebration of World Environment Day in June, Anheuser-Busch employees from across the country took time to help conserve and protect our most precious natural resource, water.  The Budweiser brand was at the forefront of these efforts with ‘Grow One. Save a Million.’  The campaign asked adult men to help save water by not shaving in the days and weeks leading up to World Environment Day.  More than 2,300 of our employees took the pledge and skipped shaving for two weeks, which saved more than 160,000 gallons of water (the average shave uses five gallons).
